Overview

We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Third Party Logistics Outside Sales Representative to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will focus exclusively on driving sales through fieldwork, building and nurturing client relationships in the logistics and transportation sectors. This role involves extensive travel to meet clients, attend industry events, and conduct on-site presentations. A strong understanding of logistics services, along with exceptional communication and negotiation skills, is essential to identify opportunities and deliver customized solutions that meet client needs.

Duties

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients in the logistics and transportation industries through regular in-person visits, networking events, and targeted outreach.
  • Identify new business opportunities by prospecting in the field, conducting market research, and leveraging industry connections while traveling to key regions.
  • Conduct on-site presentations and product demonstrations to showcase our logistics services and solutions, often requiring travel to client locations.
  • Manage the entire sales process from initial contact and lead qualification through to contract negotiation and closing, with a focus on outside sales activities.
  • Provide insights on market trends, competitor activities, and client feedback to inform strategic sales planning.
  • Utilize software tools for tracking sales activities, managing client information, and forecasting pipeline opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, travel itineraries, client interactions, and performance metrics.
  • Travel extensively (up to 25-50% of the time) to client sites, trade shows, and regional markets to drive sales growth and expand our network.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in outside sales within the logistics or transportation sectors, with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets through fieldwork.
  • Established book of business in logistics or related industries.
  • Strong understanding of logistics sales, transportation services, and EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) to effectively position solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport and influence decision-makers during in-person interactions.
  • Proficiency in using sales management software and CRM tools for tracking activities on the go.
  • Prior experience with a CRM system is required; experience with HubSpot is a plus but not required.
  • Experience with ZoomInfo is a bonus but not required.
  • Prior experience working with MercuryGate TMS is a plus but not required.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, including managing travel schedules and expense reporting.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote/field-based environment while collaborating virtually with internal teams.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, a commitment to achieving sales targets, and willingness to travel extensively (including overnight stays as needed).
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; ability to travel via car, plane, or other means as required.
